I agree 100% with jthomas above...moving from a secured job is not advisable in this market..I lived in Atlanta for a few years recently and can shed some light on the place..
Even if you have a secured job/contract, it would take a while to get into the new work environment and unless you are absolutely undisposable, you would be on the list of maybe's being a new-hire.
I will leave the job judgement upto you..
Regarding the place..
I moved from chicago to atlanta as well...the place is quite warm and not too hot like dallas...greener and more relaxed..
Again this depends on your job, dunwoody is a better place..it is in north suburbs..unlike chicago, you can drive downtown to work if you are working downtown...and also unlike chicago most companies in downtown have their own parking and you dont have to pay extra..
Rent is cheap..I used to rent a townhome in chicago suburbs for 1500$ and I can get a townhome in downtown atlanta for 1000$..you can calculate from that..
though I lived downtown atlanta for a while..i strongly suggest if you have family to avoid living in downtown..it is not safe and not a place for kids and family to relax and roam around...
I dont know how long you lived in chicago..but once you move you will definitely miss the vibrant life of chicago...atleast i did..lot of indian restaurants in atlanta but none of them are decent...
positives: weather, cost of living
negatives: avg. city life, lesser job opportunities(compared to chicago)
I am not sure which way my suggestions tilt above..just a disclaimer..i lived in chicago for ~6yrs and absoutely love the place...that might have clouded my judgement a bit..but you can take what suits you from it...

so, we are not out of the woods yet? its just that they (USCIS) can now say that they have gone through x number of apps... i wish they clarified this really well...

It is my turn to receive the "Notice mailed welcoming the new permanent resident" today. My depenedents are yet to receive this mail. This forum, Immigration-law, Immigration portal by Rajiv Khanna and many other immigration lawyers' websites like Murthy's etc were very useful to understand the immigration laws.
I did everything myself (EB2-NIW - India) - I140, I485, AP and EAD and my PD (I140 RD) and I485 RD are 09-29-2005.
I did make a one time conribution of $100.00 to IV.

1. My parents included their Indonesian bank statement in rupiah. And they went to US embassy in Jakarta, their hometown. Does it make a difference to go to other city after they got rejected twice? If so, which one?
2. I had never gone back to Indonesia since I got the asylum. I'm not supposed to although I have already got my greencard. In fact, VO asked them if I ever went back to Indonesia. And my parents said no.
3. I didn't include my US bank statement because my parents self-sponsor themselves. I don't have much anyway to sponsor them.
Please let me know your advice. Thank you so much.

Unfortunately lot of fresh PhDs who apply as EB-1 even after getting a faculty position are usually denied on grounds of lacking enough professional experience. It is not easy to be qualified as a n EB-1 even if you have a PhD. So, most of the PhD's I know are in the EB-2 queue.
But with this provision, those PHDs will get their own quota, they would not have to contend with EB2 or EB1, right?

If they can get 60+ votes, that would send a strong signal to the house - they would then negotiate away from the Sensenbrenner position. On the other hand, if Kyl and Sessions and Cornyn are all allowed to chip away at the senate bill and weaken the vote in the senate then the final bill will probably end up much closer to the Sensenbrenner version. When Reid says the WH should intervene, he is probably not baiting, just seeking help.

66% of the people who voted know someone who lost job in this Marker, I was in US when dot-com burst happened, But even then I don't think it was as bad as this time around.

I have GC for about a month now. I plan on taking up Corp-to-Corp, Independent, 1099 and W2 contracts. For corp-to-corp contracts I would like to incorporate a company if I can save on taxes over the 1099 contracts. I am also

To avoid being like the thread running a few days ago, I don't want to be responding to each response. However, I do want clear a few things:
I am not promoting one parenting technique over the other.
As I said, I agree with a few things and disagree with a few things the author talks about.
Having kids myself, I cannot think of a parent who would do harm to their own child. Each set of parents come with their own parenting skills that works for them and their children. I leave it at that.
I only posted this because my doc asked me of my opinion and I in turn asked the opinion of IV members. If this thread is going to turn ugly, lets stop it, that was not my intention.

I know that I will have to stop working on August 11 2010 and I can't earn for as long as I don't have a valid EAD in my hand. I also know that it does not affect my Green Card I-485 app as long as I don't work without and EAD.
So what should I do from here on? Should I wait...I still have 50 days to hope to get my renewed EAD in. Should I call USCIS and request expedited processing of my case...but I haven't even received my receipt notices yet. Should I book and INFOPASS appt...but INFOPASS appointments for I-765 are only issued if it has been more than 90 days since the application was filed?
I will really appreciate any comments/suggestion regarding my case.
